Comprised of 15 members who are not affiliated with NCAA member schools, the IARP was designed to handle complex cases, minimize perceptions of conflicts of interest, and hopefully streamline the process. This is the first decision from the IARP, a new group formed after the FBI investigation of college basketball and at the suggestion of a task force led by Condoleezza Rice. The IARP reserved its harshest penalty for ex-assistant, Orlando Early, who was tagged with a six-year show cause. The school did not receive a postseason ban.įormer head coach Mark Gottfried received a one-year show cause penalty. The North Carolina State men’s basketball team avoided serious penalty from the NCAA’s new Independent Accountability Resolution Process, and was sanctioned with recruiting limitations, scholarship reductions, and a $5,000 fine. ![]()
